A Hunlock Creek man admitted Monday in Luzerne County Court that he raped and abused young girls for several years.
Court records show John Martin, 47, pleaded guilty to three felony counts of child rape and three misdemeanor counts of indecent assault. Luzerne County Judge David W. Lupas accepted the plea and ordered that the Pennsylvania Sexual Offenders Assessment Board conduct an evaluation.
Martin is scheduled for sentencing Dec. 27.
Police in Luzerne County filed charges against Martin in 2021 and 2022 following disclosures by a half-dozen girls that he sexually abused them.
Jury selection was scheduled to begin Monday, court records show.
