Luzerne County prisoner sentenced after escape

Billy Partington escaped from the Luzerne County Correctional Facility in January after posing as another inmate.

LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. — A Luzerne County man has been sentenced on Wednesday after escaping from a prison back in January of this year.

Billy Partington, 30, was sentenced to six to 12 months for escaping from the Luzerne County Correctional Facility in Wilkes-Barre. Partington was mistakenly released from the facility after posing as another inmate and prison identification was not asked by booking staff.

Billy's half-brother, Drake Partington, was supposed to be the one brought there for release after bail was posted for him.

Billy signed the release form and walked out. He was captured days later and charged with escape.

Partington pleaded guilty to the escape in June.
