Troopers investigate police shooting in Luzerne County

The shooting happened on Holland Street late Sunday morning

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — One person was shot Sunday by a Wilkes-Barre police officer, touching off an investigation by state troopers in Luzerne County, authorities said.

The shooting on Holland Street happened around 11:30 a.m. A state police spokesperson confirmed they are investigating. No police officers were hurt.

The condition of the person struck by gunfire was unknown. Authorities have not released their name, or the name of the officer involved in the shooting.

The state police are working with Luzerne County detectives and the district attorney's office. District Attorney Sam Sanguedolce could not immediately be reached for comment.

Wilkes-Barre police referred questions to the state police and district attorney's office. 

State police said the shooting was an "isolated incident" and presents no threat to the public.
