LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. — Wyoming Area Regional Police were called to the 1200 block of Exeter Avenue in Exeter Borough just after 11pm on Wednesday, May 8, for a report that a man had fired a gun into a vehicle.
When officers arrived, they located a vehicle that had its rear driver-side window shattered. Glass was on the ground, along with a .40-millimeter shell casing.
According to court documents, the vehicle was parked outside a residence, and a man was in the driver's seat at the time of the shot being fired.
The man told police he was sitting in the vehicle when 37-year-old Edward Wasko approached, and an argument began. He said Wasko hit him several times, fired the shot into the vehicle, pointed the gun at his head, and threatened to kill him. He told police Wasko left the area on a motorcycle after the shot was fired.
A woman was in the vehicle with the man when Wasko arrived at the scene, and the argument started. She told police she got out of the car to call 911 and witnessed the shot being fired.
The court documents also say surveillance video from outside the residence captured the altercation. The documents say the video showed Wasko at the driver's-side of the vehicle yelling at the victim and making threats to harm him, and that a flash consistent with a firearm being discharged is also visible in the video.
At 7:30 a.m. Thursday morning, Pennsylvania State Police and United States Marshals served a warrant for Wasko at his residence on Crown Drive in Wyoming Borough after he sent threatening text messages to the witness.
Officials said they located Wasko in a vehicle in his garage with long guns, ammunition, and a bulletproof vest.
Wasko was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, carrying a firearm without a license, and other related charges. Following his arrest, police say bail was denied, and he remains in custody.
