WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — The Luzerne County Council has approved merging the county's 911 Center and Emergency Management Agency.
Council voted on the merger at a meeting Tuesday night.
Luzerne County was one of only three counties in the state with separate 911 and emergency management agencies.
Officials say this merger will improve response times and efficiency.
The council plans to post the director of emergency services position sometime next week.
