Life sentence for Wilkes-Barre murder

James Alberto was sentenced Thursday in Luzerne County court.

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — A man convicted of murder last year in Wilkes-Barre will spend life in prison.

James Alberto was sentenced Thursday in Luzerne County court.

A jury found Alberto guilty of first-degree murder, conspiracy, and other charges during a trial in November.

Prosecutors say Alberto ordered the 2021 murder of Judith Comisky.

Another man, Charles Bierly, 23, admitted to stabbing and shooting the victim inside her Willow Street home. He pleaded guilty to third-degree murder in May.
