Kyle Gilmartin receives degree from King’s College

It’s a special honor this week for a Scranton police detective wounded in the line of duty.

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — A Scranton police officer wounded in the line of duty now has a King's College degree.

Detective Kyle Gilmartin received his diploma for a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology.

Photos from King's College show the ceremony in Wilkes-Barre with Gilmartin’s family.

The college president says Gilmartin went to King’s but left for the police academy before graduating.

When the school reviewed his records, they realized his course work at the academy counted toward his degree.
