LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. — The Department of Justice announced that it will monitor the polls in Luzerne County on election day.
Officials say they want to ensure that federal civil rights laws are being followed. The announcement comes as some county voters say they never received their mail-in ballots.
County officials say they're re-checking their records.
The Justice Department's Civil Rights Division will coordinate the effort. Justice Department personnel will contact state and local officials throughout Election Day.
