HANOVER TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A hydrochloric acid leak prompted a six-hour evacuation at a Luzerne County industrial park last month, according to a report to be presented at a Luzerne County Council meeting this week.
The leak happened the evening of Dec. 21 at the Bridon American Corporation in the Hanover Industrial Park in Hanover Township. There were no injuries reported.
The spill was contained but it created a "large plume" that made it necessary to evacuate nearby facilities within a half-mile of the leak, according to a report.
The spill was noted in the Luzerne County Emergency Management Agency's monthly report to the county council, which will meet Tuesday.
Cleanup took about six hours to finish.
