BEAR CREEK TOWNSHIP -- A home in Luzerne County was leveled by an apparent explosion Thursday afternoon.
It happened around 1 p.m. near Bear Creek Village.
The noise of the blast startled people who live near Thornhurst Road, including Nicole Rosenthel.
"I was petrified. I was like 'oh, my God.' I was home by myself, like, 'what is going on right now?"
Firefighters had to wait for the power to be cut until they could inspect the damage.
State troopers say no one was home at the time of the blast.
A state police fire marshal is still working to figure out what sparked the explosion but troopers and firefighters spent time carefully inspecting a propane tank surrounded by rubble.
Mike Gatcha heard and felt the blast from the other side of Mountain Lake. He's relieved that no one was hurt.
"Everything shook. We just heard a big explosion and then, boom, that was it."
