Haunted house benefitting United Way

Gravestone Manor is returning for the Halloween season and supporting a good cause.

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — If you’re in the mood to be spooked, a haunted attraction in Luzerne County is benefitting a good cause. Gravestone Manor is in its 24th season this year.

The haunted house is a theatrical production, where the audience becomes part of the cast.

"Every room that you go into is going to be a different scene in the play.  So it has a beginning, a middle and an end and hopefully a few surprises along the way," Rob Padden said.

Volunteers work on the show all year round.

"About halfway through summer, construction begins and we're renovating new rooms and adding new effects and programming new stuff to bring everyone an entirely new and different story from the previous year," Ian Padden said.

This year's theme is "Grim Harvest" and it is not recommended for children under 8 years of age.

"It takes about 35 volunteers a night in order to staff our show and give you the best scare that we can," Rob said.

Admission is $12 and all proceeds go to the United Way of Wyoming Valley.

"We raise generally about $30,000 for the United Way every October and we're very proud of that," Rob said.

You still have two more weekends to come to Gravestone Manor.  It's open through Sunday, October 27th.
