Free heart screenings at King's College

King's College partnered with the Peyton Walker Foundation and Geisinger Health System to hold the free event.

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — A college in Luzerne County held a free heart screening clinic Saturday.

King's College held the clinic along with the Peyton Walker Foundation and Geisinger Health System.

The clinic was for children and young adults and included an electrocardiogram and vitals check, along with nutrition, CPR, and AED education.

The Peyton Walker Foundation was created in memory of a former King's College student who died from sudden cardiac arrest.

"Today, we had one pretty significant finding, you know, the family, I'm sure it's going to be incredibly grateful that their child was able to come to the screening today. So I'm really proud of the legacy that we built in Peyton's name and knowing that really, you know, we are increasing awareness and survival rates of sudden cardiac arrest and building an incredible legacy in honor of Peyton," said Julie Walker, Executive Director, Peyton Walker Foundation.

King's College faculty and students oversaw the heart screenings in Luzerne County.
