WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — The F.M. Kirby Center in downtown Wilkes-Barre is reopening after a months-long closure.
The Kirby closed over the summer for renovations, which included improvements to the upstairs for the community and fixing nearly $4 million worth of damage from last year's flooding when a pipe burst in the basement of the building.
That included a new scroll marquee outside the building.
"It was a long three months of us being dark- we don't usually do a ton in the summer, but just enough to keep us on our toes and excited. So, there's a lot going on with construction, but we're really excited to get back to doing what we do best," said Joell Yarmel, F.M. Kirby Center Executive Director.
The F.M. Kirby Center reopens Wednesday night to a sold-out crowd in Wilkes-Barre.
