HAZLETON, Pa. — Officials say a fire damaged a house Tuesday morning in Hazleton was an accident.
The fire started at a duplex on the corner of Garfield and East 3rd Street around 9 a.m.
According to the fire chief, the woman living in the left side of the home dropped a candle which started the fire.
She got out safely, along with her dog, but they are still searching for her cat.
Another person living in that side of the duplex was taken to the hospital to be checked out, but they are expected to be OK.
That side of the home is now unliveable.
Fire crews were able to put out the flames before it spread to the other side of the duplex.
