AVOCA, Pa. — The Ice Cream Rescue Truck is donating close to 20% of its profits this week to the Avoca Fire Department.
Jillian Lee, Manager of Ice Cream Rescue, said the firefighting fundraiser is what attracts customers.
“A lot of them are just kind of admired by it, which is very appreciative,” said Lee. “A lot of them mainly just come because it is supporting our first responders."
Ron Jannotti, a customer of the truck and resident of Avoca, echoed Lee’s sentiment.
“In today's world, we could all use some help, especially the local firefighters that do help the community, so I feel glad that we're able to contribute a little bit, said Jannotti.
Avoca firefighters already have a plan for how they're going to use the money.
“Half of it will go into a savings account, half of it will go into a spending account, where we can use to buy new things put money towards the building, towards the trucks,” said Avoca volunteer firefighter Hailey Halagarda.
Although the ice cream fundraiser in Avoca will end on Saturday, it picks right back up on Monday in Carbondale to help support another station.
