Fire hits magistrate's office in Luzerne County

The fire started around 10 a.m. at the place on Russell Street in Edwardsville.

EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. — Firefighters were called out Thursday morning to a fire in Luzerne County.

The fire started around 10 a.m. at a magisterial district judge's office on Russell Street in Edwardsville.

Heavy smoke was pouring from the place as crews responded.

Edwardsville Fire Chief Bill Court said two firefighters collapsed from what he thinks may have been heat exhaustion. They were taken to the hospital, but their condition is not yet known.

Court proceedings were taking place at the time of the fire, and all members of the public and court staff were able to get out safely.

All hearings scheduled at the Edwardsville District Court will be heard at Magisterial District Court 11-1-06 located at 2009 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort.

Authorities have not said how the fire started.
