NANTICOKE, Pa. — A home and a second garage were damaged after a fire in Nanticoke early Monday morning.
Crews fought the flames that started in a garage in Lexington Village along Agostina Drive around 5:30 a.m.
Nanticoke Fire Department said the overhead garage door failed, letting the fire spread outside.
The home next door was attached, damaging the garage.
The fire was contained at 6:25 a.m.
The Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal investigated the cause: multiple electric space heaters used in the garage. They were plugged into a power strip with extension cords not rated for the heaters.
The Nanticoke Fire Department says a man and his dog made it out safely. The Red Cross is assisting them.
No injuries were reported in the fire in Luzerne County.
