WILKES-BARRE TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A transformer fire knocked out power in Luzerne County Tuesday night.
Officials say flames sparked when a tractor-trailer struck a utility pole just before 9 p.m. along Coal Street and Highland Park Boulevard in Wilkes-Barre Township.
Fire crews quickly responded and knocked down the flames.
About 470 homes and businesses were without power due to the fire according to PPL. Power has since been restored.
Police warn drivers that traffic lights along Coal Street, Highland Park Boulevard, and Wilkes-Barre Township Boulevard are impacted by the outage.
