HAZLETON, Pa. — A major boost is coming to help make nature a little more accessible to the city of Hazleton.
Vistra, which operates several power plants across Pennsylvania, donated $10,000 to the Hazleton Integration Project.
The money will go towards walking trails and a two-acre nature park in the western part of the city, which will be enjoyed by kids and residents of all ages.
"When all you know is the kind of concrete area of the block you grow up in, you're so limited. Compared to those kids who are able to leave the city and go out and play the country and interact with animals, so we're trying to provide that same thing right here with within walking distance for almost every kid in the area," said Robert Curry, Hazleton Integration Project Founding President.
The space will also feature a meditation garden dedicated to those impacted by gun violence within the city of Hazleton and beyond.
