PLYMOUTH, Pa. — Saturday was the final day of the Plymouth Alive Kielbasa Festival in Luzerne County.
Food, music, and games are still to come around until 11 p.m., but this Saturday afternoon was the event many wait all year for, the annual kielbasa contest.
Food trucks, markets, and restaurants enter their kielbasa to be judged by many TV and radio personalities, elected officials, and festival favorites in the Wyoming Valley, all surrounded by the musical stylings of a polka band.
"To see all of these personalities come together, and everyone getting to know each other, excited for the music, excited for the kielbasa. It's amazing that this is something so unique to Plymouth Pennsylvania, that means a lot to us," said Alexis Eroh with Plymouth Alive.
Tarnowski's Kielbasa in Nanticoke, the defending champion from last year, took home the gold for both smoked and fresh kielbasa.
