Farmers market in Luzerne County raises money for food bank

The market is held on Sundays at Crestwood High School in Mountain Top.

MOUNTAIN TOP, Pa. — A farmers market in Luzerne County is raising money for a local food bank.

The Mountain Top Farmers Market is held every Sunday in season at Crestwood High School. Dozens of vendors set up shop there every week to sell fresh produce.

The Rotary Club of Mountain Top sponsors the market.

"There's no other farmers markets in this area," noted John Kanyuck of the Rotary Club of Mountain Top. "We have two grocery stores that have produce, but this is fresh picked. Our farmers pick the night before the orchard the same thing. They're picking Fridays and Saturdays to come up here on Sundays. So all the produce is fresh."

Money raised from the market is donated to the Mountain Top Food Bank.
