WEST HAZLETON — The famous Budweiser Clydesdale horses came to Luzerne County to make a special delivery.
The Clydesdale horses marched down North Broad Street in West Hazleton Friday to deliver beer to several local businesses.
The horses got a police escort and people came out to see the iconic animals.
“I cry when I see them, this is the fourth time I’ve seen them. And they just bring tears to my eyes that God can create such beauty. And I could just sit, if they could stay still, for three minutes, I would sit on the ground and just look at them like a work of art,” said Jacalym Walker of West Hazleton.
Deliveries were made to the Pulaski Club, Jonathan’s Nest, The Beer Stop, Bottlenecks Saloon & Eatery, 4th Street Pub, Cinema and Drafthouse, Hell’s Kitchen, and Eli’s.
The Budweiser Clydesdales got their start as a symbol to commemorate the end of Prohibition in 1933.
The Clydesdale Operations is based out of St. Louis, Missouri. According to the Anheuser-Busch website, the company currently owns approximately 250 Clydesdales. People can view the Budweiser Clydesdales at the Anheuser-Busch breweries in St. Louis, Missouri; Merrimack, New Hampshire; and Ft. Collins, Colorado. They can also be seen at Grant’s Farm in St. Louis and at Warm Springs Ranch, a Clydesdale breeding farm near Boonville, Missouri.
