Elementary students in Wilkes-Barre surprised with donation for musical instruments

The students at Heights-Murray Elementary School received a donation of $2,000 for musical instruments during an assembly to help promote music education

LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. — Students at an elementary school in Wilkes-Barre will be drumming to a new beat after a generous donation.

Students at the Heights-Murray Elementary School in Wilkes-Barre were surprised with a donation of $2,000 by Service Electric Cable TV and Communications and AXS TV to promote music education during an afternoon assembly on Tuesday.

The principal of the school expressed the importance of what music in overall health and education can do for students.

"It's important to all of us, and so it makes us feel good, and again, when you feel good, I think we intend to do our best work," said Aidan McKenna, Principal of Heights-Murray Elementary School.

The awarded money will assist purchase of guitars, ukuleles, drums, and recorders for the students.
