DURYEA -- A flood control project in part of Luzerne County has taken another step forward.
Dozens of homes and businesses in Duryea were destroyed by flooding in September 2011.
DEP has awarded Leeward Construction of Honesdale a contract to extend a flood wall along the Lackawanna River and close a gap in the existing flood wall.
The project also includes work on the original levee built in 1967.
Work is scheduled to start next month and wrap up in June.
