Driver to be cited for crash that injured six firefighters

Two emergency vehicles collided on the way to a fire in Luzerne County earlier this month.

LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. — The driver of an emergency vehicle will be cited after a crash with a firetruck earlier this month in Luzerne County.

The wreck on March 2 at West Butler Drive and Hunter Highway (Route 309) in Drums left six emergency responders injured.

Investigators said Colby Bognar, 31, of Drums, was driving a rescue truck from Valley Regional Fire & Rescue when it collided with a ladder truck from Hazle Township Fire and Rescue. The firetruck ended up in a wooded area off the road.

Both vehicles were responding to a fire in Butler Township.

Bognar will be cited for a red light violation for entering the intersection while the light was red, according to Butler Township Police.
