AVOCA, Pa. — Starting later this year, travelers will be able to hop on a plane and fly direct to Tampa, Florida, from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport (AVP) in Luzerne County.
On Tuesday, Breeze Airways announced new service from AVP to Tampa, starting October 18, as well as an additional weekly flight to Orlando, from October 8.
New Service from AVP to:
- Fort Myers, Florida—(Seasonal, Thursdays, and Sundays, starting October 3)
- Tampa, Florida—(Mondays and Fridays, starting October 18,)
- Orlando, Florida—(Increasing from four times weekly to five times weekly, starting October 8 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays)
Flights to Orlando on Breeze were announced last year and began in January.
Nonstop flights to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, were announced in April.
The airline is also featuring a reduced-fare promotion for travel from August 14 to January 7, 2025, if purchased before Thursday at 11:59 p.m. PT.
"We are extremely excited that Breeze Airways is adding nonstop Tampa service for Northeastern Pennsylvania travelers," said Carl Beardsley, the airport executive director. "This additional service brings Breeze's nonstop destinations from AVP to four, which includes three Florida destinations."
In May, American Airlines announced a "tarmac-to-tarmac" bus shuttle service to the Philadelphia International Airport for travelers connecting through that airport.
