DEP monitoring opening on Toby Creek

The opening on the creek is near the site of the original mine subsidence that happened back in April.

LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. — Work will soon be underway to fix an opening on a creek in Luzerne County.

The Department of Environmental Protection is monitoring an opening on Toby Creek in Luzerne borough near the site of a previous mine subsidence that happened back in April.

Officials say the opening is causing water loss on the creek.

DEP crews are expected to begin work this week to stop the water loss.

There is no word yet on how long the work will take to complete on the creek in Luzerne County.
