WILKES-BARRE -- Police are investigating the shooting death of a man, whose body was found inside a home in Wilkes-Barre.

Police say a family member found Peter Bielecki, 49, dead Friday morning. Investigators say the victim was shot at his home on Carey Avenue in south Wilkes-Barre.

"It`s obvious that it was a suspicious manner. So until we get a ruling from the coroner`s office, I really can`t comment any further," Wilkes-Barre Police Chief Robert Hughes said.

Police say Bielecki was the only one who lived in the home. A family member found him after going to check on him. Neighbors say they didn't know the man, but say the house's tinted windows are unusual.

"There`s a lot of people in and out of that house all times of the day, all times of the night. I`m not shocked. It`s very suspect, but I`m not shocked about the situation," said Katie McCann of Wilkes-Barre.

The Carey Avenue shooting isn't the only one Wilkes-Barre police had to investigate this week. On Friday morning, two people were shot outside Club Envy. Those people were treated at a nearby hospital and are expected to survive. And on Wednesday, a man was shot and killed after he gave a gun to someone, who mishandled it.

"We`ve been a little bit busier than normal," Chef Hughes said.

The district attorney tells Newswatch 16 Bielecki had been shot. She wouldn't say anything more, but with three separate shooting incidents this week, residents are concerned.

"With all the activity going on, yes, most definitely we need more of a police force,” McCann said.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
