LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. — A massive brush fire burned a wooded area early Wednesday morning in Luzerne County near the popular hiking spot Campbell's Ledge in Duryea.
Crews from Luzerne and Lackawanna Counties fought the fire for several hours.
The fire was out by 11 a.m. Wednesday.
Later in the afternoon, Duryea police put up a social media post saying a borough officer saw a shirtless man running away from the fire.
The cops took that person in and questioned him before letting him go.
Investigators say they are now trying to figure out if criminal charges will be filed.
While the police handle who may have started the fire, the state Department of Forestry is looking into how the flames sparked Wednesday in Luzerne County.
