WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — Students and employers met face-to-face at a career fair hosted by King's College in Wilkes-Barre.
"So we advocate for multiple, multiple internship opportunities, part-time jobs, volunteer opportunities, service in our community. Those are all opportunities that our students and we advocate for to help our students secure those positions," said Christopher Sutzko, Director of the Career Planning Office.
The director of the college's career planning office says this year's graduates are entering a strong job market but need to keep their options open. Senior Matthew Davies keeps that in mind as he looks for a job in sports broadcasting.
"I feel in my track, it's going to be a much harder road. A different road than just going straight into sports broadcasting. I might have to become a news reporter or something like that before I get into sports broadcasting," said Davies.
Advisors say students should work on building strong connections in college to help make the job search easier.
"So being open to those relationships that they're developing while they're possibly even in high school, but through their college education and then beyond, but networking is not about meeting someone. It's about nurturing that relation in the long term," added Sutzko.
"Coming to this event is just a great way to build my experience and my knowledge of what the business world has to offer and just get ready for the next step in general," said Gavin Rahab, a sophomore at King's College.
