WYOMING, Luzerne County — Getting a glimpse of a Civil War soldier's daily life was the goal of one event in Luzerne County.
A Civil War Encampment and 'Meet the Generals' event was held at the Swetland Homestead in Wyoming on Sunday.
Folks had the opportunity to talk with reenactors, see battlefield maneuvers, and even discuss pastimes and hobbies from the 1860s.
Historical officials say the reenactment helps give people a different perspective of the time period.
"It's one thing to sit down in a school or a library and read about something, but if you can visualize it, you can see it in three dimensions. And to talk to someone who has studied and individual and studied the time period, it gives you a whole other outlook," said Mark Ricetti Jr, Luzerne County Historical Society.
The Swetland Homestead was also open for tours during the free historical event in Luzerne County.
