WILKES-BARRE, Pa. -- Just hours after a magistrate dismissed homicide charges against a teenager in Luzerne County, the charges were refiled.
Mercedes Hall, 16, was one of four people charged with the murder of Joseph Monka, 71, in Edwardsville in April. Police say Monka was stabbed and then robbed.
Gabriella Long, Christopher Cortez, and Devin Cunningham were also charged with homicide.
At a preliminary hearing on Friday, a district magistrate sent charges against all four suspects on to trial, but he dismissed the criminal homicide charges against Hall.
According to the Luzerne County District Attorney, prosecutors then withdrew all charges against Hall and refiled them, including the criminal homicide charges.
Hall was then arraigned on the refiled charges and locked up without bail.
She is due back in court on June 19.
