WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — Folks lit up the valley in Luzerne County on Thursday.
"Change Maker" awards were given out to dozens of community members at the Public Square in Wilkes-Barre as part of the second annual "Light up the Valley" event hosted by the Greater Wyoming Valley Chamber of Commerce.
The event highlights individuals who make the Wyoming Valley a brighter place. Award winner Tanya Brown tells Newswatch 16 that her friend nominated her because of her volunteer work throughout the community.
"I just always try to think how would I feel if I was in their position and just try to do whatever I can to help."
People enjoyed music, a light display, and community vendors at the event.
