LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. — One of the final nights of Hanukkah was celebrated Wednesday in Luzerne County.
The Mayrutz Run, or Running of the Torah, started on River Street in Wilkes-Barre, went over the Market Street Bridge, and ended with the lighting of the menorah outside the Friedman Jewish Community Center in Kingston.
Following the lighting of the menorah, the community enjoyed a dinner at the JCC.
"To light a Hanukkiah, to light a Hanukkah menorah, and spread more light into the world, you don't get more of a, you don't get a better message than that, when you're talking about dispelling darkness and driving out darkness and bringing more lights and more goodness into the world." said Rabbi Eric Mollo from Temp B'nai B'rith
Hanukkah ends this Friday, December 15th.
