Bowlers help to Strike Out Epilepsy in Wilkes-Barre

The 17th annual Strike Out Epilepsy Bowl-A-Thon was held at Chacko's Family Bowling Center in Wilkes-Barre Sunday afternoon.

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — Bowlers gathered in part of Luzerne County to knock down a few pins for a good cause.

The Epilepsy Foundation of Eastern PA held its 17th annual Strike Out Epilepsy Bowl-A-Thon at Chacko's Family Bowling Center in Wilkes-Barre Sunday afternoon.

Organizers say the event helps raise money for the foundation while supporting those affected by the disease.

"Today we're all here to support people with epilepsy; about 110,000 people in Eastern PA have epilepsy, 1 in 26 people will develop it in their life, so we're here to raise awareness and support each other," said Rena Loughlin, Vice President of the Epilepsy Foundation of Eastern PA.

The foundation hopes to raise $7,000 from the event to help those with epilepsy in northeastern Pennsylvania.
