FOSTER TOWNSHIP -- A missing cow has finally come home after causing quite a stir over the past week.

But it certainly wasn't easy to get the pregnant cow back where she belonged after escaping last week, but her bovine breakout came to an end Monday morning.

The cow is now called "940." There have been a lot of nicknames for this pregnant mama since she escaped last week, but her owner near White Haven thinks "940" is the best after she spent a week being spotted along busy Route 940.

"It was hectic here. It was hectic here for the whole week, trying to find her, running around and people calling," said owner Rick Welker.

People were calling because they saw Rick Welker's sign along Route 940, that sign that made the cow on the run quite popular.

Welker tells us she got out of a pen now holding horses, after likely being spooked by a bear last Monday.

"I'm so gracious of the people that called. They were calling me and sighting her so I knew she was close, that she didn't stray too far."

But every time Welker got close, this livestock lady played hard to get.

"Every time she saw me she took one look at me and said, 'I'm out of here!'" laughed Welker.

Until a week later, when she found some friends turning up at another farm two miles away, by some other cows. That farmer got her inside his fences and called police.

Once that missing cow was inside the pens with the other cattle, she still didn't want to go home. As they tried to put her in the trailer, she escaped again. Fortunately this time, she didn't stay out for long, came back inside and the missing cow is no longer on the lam.

"It's like now you can see her, it's like nothing ever happened. She's just standing there, but when she was out by herself, anyone who has cows or animals knows, once they're free, they know it."

And now this is a cow that can forget about freedom.

"She's under lock and key now, that's for sure!"

"940" the cow seems to be in good health but Welker says she was pretty shaken up Monday morning. She's due to have her calf in February in captivity.
