WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — Boozy B's, a restaurant known for its frozen adult treats, plans to close on August 24, but not without a swan song for its most popular event.
"So this is our last and final wizarding weekend," said owner Bianca Lupio. "We have a wizarding weekend every single year. It is a big Harry Potter-themed festival. We have lots of vendors out in the courtyard, and we do all the treats."
While the fandom of Harry Potter was front and center at the festival on South Main Street in Wilkes-Barre, the upcoming goodbye to Boozy B's is on their minds
"It's just, it's just sad. I wish, you know, I understand in the economy, but I just wish it was, you know, could be able to continue, because it's such a great business. It's so unique and different. And so it is bittersweet. It's, it's sad to see them go," lamented Lisa Simon of Fan Girl Apothecary.
Jennifer Smith of Dreams Travel Consulting agreed.
"It's very bittersweet. This is actually one of the best events I've ever been a part of. Really sad for it to be over, but we're having a lot of fun this weekend, so that's really all that counts."
"I couldn't have gotten this far without them," said Lupio. "So, I'm so appreciative to everyone I, you know, just showed us so much love and support these last few weeks, and then this weekend, especially."
Simon added, "It's sad because, like you said, this is when the last weekend's we'll get to do it in the area, so hopefully, maybe if Boozy B's doesn't, somebody will pick it up, and we'll get to do more Harry Potter events, because it's fun. It's just a great community."
"We do have future plans lined up right now," Lupio hinted. I'm not going to give away too many details, but we will hopefully continue this. We're just figuring out some things right now."
The final day for Boozy B's in Wilkes-Barre will be Saturday, August 24.
