SWOYERSVILLE, Pa. — A restaurant in Luzerne County is leaving one borough and headed to another this fall.
It's been more than a year since a restaurant on Owen Street in Swoyersville has seen any action.
“We used to have Tipsy Turtle in Swoyersville. It was a restaurant before that it was the Owen Street Pub and we're happy to see someone come back here,” said John Majewski, Swoyersville councilman.
That new tenant will be B3Q Smokehouse, which is currently operating on the corner of Exeter and Wyoming Avenues in West Pittston.
“B3Q Smokehouse opened after the river flooded in 2011. So, in 2012, the original owner opened and then I had since taken over in 2019 from retiring from the Air Force. So, it had evolved from Barry opening in 2012 to me in 2019,” said Dominick Artiz, B3Q Smokehouse owner.
And now the place is making a move to Swoyersville this fall.
“Barbecue place, excellent location, lots of parking, great food. I've had their brisket in West Pittston. Happy to see them coming here. A lot of people in our community love to go out no matter what night of the week it is, whether it's Monday night, Friday night or Saturday night, so we're happy to see that,” said Majewski
The owner says the move will not only provide a new neighborhood with something special but will allow him to offer more, too.
“Being able to give our customers that whole barbecue experience. To sit down and enjoy themselves and at the same time be able to have either a draft beer or some root beer and birch beer on draft as well,” said Artiz.
B3Q will operate in West Pittston until the end of August.
They will also set up at the Pittston Tomato Festival and the La Festa Italiana in Scranton before focusing on opening up the Swoyersville location.
