Annie from Adopt A Boxer | 16 To The Rescue

In this week's 16 To The Rescue, we meet a boxer who is learning how to play with toys and walk on a leash for the first time in her life.

FORTY FORT, Pa. — In this week's 16 To The Rescue, we meet a 4-year-old boxer who is learning how to play with toys and walk on a leash for the first time.

"She's lovely. She's a little bit smaller. I call her our little pocket boxer. She's super fun. She's snuggly, she's cuddly, she likes to play, she gets along really well with other dogs. I would love to get her in a fenced-in yard so she can run around and romp and play," said Cara Devine, Annie's foster.

Annie is being fostered at a home in Forty Fort through Adopt A Boxer Rescue. She has only been there for about a week, and her foster has absolutely fallen in love with her. Annie came from Turkey.

"When they get here, it comes with all of her paperwork, everything she needs, even her passport. They would get all of the vet records, all of that, but she's in tip-top shape," Devine said.

Rescue workers don't know much about Annie's life in Turkey, but they can tell she is just sort of learning how to be a pet for the first time.

"I don't know her whole story when she was in Turkey. Some of them come off the streets. From what I understand, she may have had a home previously, but that's not directly where she came from. Getting used to steps, getting used to grass, going for walks, learning how to walk on a leash, we're starting from ground zero," Devine said.

Annie was quiet with us, but her foster says that when she's around other dogs, her personality really comes out. So, she would probably be happiest with a male dog friend and any family that's active and ready to spend a lot of time with her.

"The most wonderful thing about Annie is that you can tell that she's not broken. She still is very snuggly, a little timid around new people but her people, she's loving on them. Children, she's great with," said Devine.
