WILKES-BARRE -- The alleged 14-year-old shooter who police believe critically injured a man Monday evening in Wilkes-Barre made his first appearance before a judge Wednesday.
Tony Ransome was led into the Luzerne County Courthouse just after 10 a.m. Although a scheduled detention hearing was delayed, Newswatch 16 learned Ransome faces at least one felony charge in connection with Monday night's shooting on Hutson Street in Wilkes-Barre.
Ransome's half-brother, Christian Sholly, 20, remains in critical condition after he was shot in the chest. In court, Ransome was with his grandmother, who had nothing to say after the hearing.
Investigators did not publicly reveal the charges against Ransome or say what led up to the shooting. That information will likely come out during a later court appearance.
The shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. Monday on Hutson Street in Wilkes-Barre. Neighbors told Newswatch 16 they heard a single shot, and then heard the victim screaming for someone to call the cops.
Moments after the shooting, Ransome stood by a police car, shortly before he was taken into custody.
Ransome is currently being held at a detention center in Northampton County. His detention hearing has been rescheduled for September 27 at the Luzerne County courthouse.
