Annual Witch Walk held in Lackawanna County

Dozens of witches dressed up and performed throughout one part of Lackawanna County on Saturday.

LACKAWANNA COUNTY, Pa. — Wagons full of witches spent the day parading through Lackawanna County.

The 2nd annual Madison Township Witch Walk features dozens of women dressed in witch attire, traveling from house to house and performing.

Organizers tell Newswatch 16 this is a traditional German witch dance performed in people's front yards in exchange for goodies along the way.

The day of dancing ends with a bonfire and potluck dinner.

"It started last year as a 'Witch Walk,' and we come down Henry Drinker Road, and we finish at the end of Quicktown Road, and we stop at participating houses along the way," said Jolene Mead, Madison Township.

30 witches participated last year. This year, that number nearly doubled.

Each participating witch brought a donation for the North Pocono Food Pantry in Lackawanna County.
