SCRANTON -- What The Fork food truck is known not only for its food, but also for its wheels. It serves up lunch wherever its trucks can find a spot in downtown Scranton.

Now What The Fork will have a location parked permanently at The Mall at Steamtown.

"It'll be nice when I get my craving for pork tacos or the sliders, I can just walk down the street now," said What The Fork customer Beth Bonacci of Carbondale.

The food truck already has a location in downtown Wilkes-Barre. Its second brick and mortar location will fill one of the empty storefronts in The Mall at Steamtown. It will be the mall's first new tenant since a new owner took over.

What The Fork will take up the old American Eagle store front and it will be renovated to include an outside entrance onto Lackawanna Avenue.

Sunny Khanwani has sold sunglasses at his kiosk at The Mall at Steamtown for almost a decade. He's seen good times, and most recently, bad times. He hopes that What The Fork's restaurant will bring more people to his business.

But, most importantly he said, a new tenant is giving those who have stuck it out some hope.

"Definitely, people are more positive around here. Which is good news itself. I know it's a long way to go. It's not going to be done overnight and it's a process, but evidently there are changes," Khanwani said.
