SCRANTON, Pa. — The 3rd annual West Scranton Fall Festival at Clover Field had everything from a variety of food, a virtual paintball station, a bounce house area, and an art tent for the kids, as well as local resources and vendors.
Organizers say every year they strive to add on a little more of everything to make the fall festival a tradition on the west side of Scranton.
"Yeah, so definitely a kickoff to fall. We have so many fun pumpkins as decorations. To get people to come to Westside, see what we have to offer, and learn about the different assets," said Miranda Pace, West Scranton NeighborWorks Coordinator.
New things at the West Scranton Fall Festival included new community vendors, free caricatures, and a basketball bounce house.
The volunteer basketball coaches for the children were West Scranton Junior High basketball players, "Yeah, it's really fun. I got to play paintball right there, and then I was just helping out. I was shooting hoops. It's honestly it's great," said Bryce McMillen.
The NeighborWorks West Scranton Fall Festival is especially important for West Scranton resident Starr Medina, who appreciates having local resources all in one place where she can also bring her kids, especially now that her son was recently diagnosed with a genetic disorder, "To do things with him when I don't know a lot about the disorder and I can find information throughout the community by all the medical tents and all the things here it's a lot, helpful."
This is only the first half of the fall festival; the second half will be held at Allen Park from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
"There is going to be some live music, smores, some hot chocolate, and there's just it's a really chill vibe, there's business all down the corridor, so you can get something to eat," said Pace.
Organizers say they hope to cover the entire perimeter of the Clover Field with new vendors at next year's NeighborWorks West Scranton Fall Festival.
