The Mall at Steamtown is being turned into a fight club this weekend. The Pennsylvania Golden Gloves, an amateur boxing organization, is bringing its tournament to the food court at the mall.
The fight card comes to Scranton almost 33 years to the day since heavyweight champion of the world Larry Holmes defended his title in a bout in the Electric City.
Holmes, from Easton, fought his first four professional fights and eight of his first ten in Scranton.
We open the video vault to 1983 when the champ fought European champion Lucien Rodriguez at the Watres Armory in Scranton.
