Truck's cargo damaged after bridge collision in Scranton

Plastic pipes were knocked off the truck and shattered all over Main Avenue Wednesday morning.

SCRANTON, Pa. — A truck driver ended up with a damaged load after a run-in with an underpass in Lackawanna County.

The truck hauling plastic pipes hit the railroad bridge on Main Avenue near the North Scranton Expressway (Route 11) in Scranton around 11:45 a.m. Wednesday.

Some of the pipes were knocked off the truck and shattered on the road. Another vehicle driving in the opposite direction sustained damage from some of the loose pipes.

A sign on the bridge alerts drivers to the low clearance of 12 feet, 8 inches.

Scranton DPW workers cleaned up the mess.

There is no word if the truck driver will be cited.
