Tossing turkeys for a good cause in Lackawanna County

Dozens gathered at Valley Bowling Lanes in Carbondale Township to knock down a few pins in a unique way for the Montdale Food Pantry.

CARBONDALE, Pa. — A unique fundraiser took place in part of Lackawanna County.

Dozens gathered at Valley Bowling Lanes in Carbondale Township Sunday afternoon for the 2nd annual Turkey Toss.

Valley Lanes and ShopRite teamed up for the event which raises money and collects non perishables for the Montdale Food Pantry.

Organizers say the event serves as a fun way to raise money for the cause, "When we found out that the Montdale Food Pantry was in need of donations for Thanksgiving, I thought, why not? I thought it was a fun, crazy, out-of-the-box idea, shed light on bowling and help people in our community that help us stay in business over seven decades," said Cindy Grabowski, organizer.

The event raised $1,547 for the food pantry in Lackawanna County.
