SCRANTON, Pa. — "It's winter. This is Northeast Pennsylvania. What are you gonna do?"
Bitter cold temperatures, sandwiched between two rounds of snow. Schools and events have been closed or canceled several times this week because of it. The snow-covered or slushy roads made for tricky travel. This week had it all weather-wise for Northeast PA, and many people we spoke with had mixed feelings about it.
"The house is cold at night, but hey, it's winter. I like snow," said Verna Everett.
"I think the worst part of this week is a cold. I mean, like, I hate snow, but if it's compared to snow and cold, I'd say the cold is the worst," said Alex Hahn.
On Tuesday, we had a couple of inches of snow. Mid-week, the weather was in the teens with feels-like temperatures in the single digits and gusty winds, then another couple of inches of snow today. The weather trend continues with more cold and wind expected this weekend. Alex Hahn says he still plans on going about his business but will be better prepared to head outside.
"I do plan on layering up like crazy. I mean, this is how I am right now. I'm going to be wearing more layers tomorrow," Hahn said.
It's January, and there's still plenty of winter to go, and most people expect it.
"I don't mind the snow. I don't mind it at all, and you know, next week it's going to be 50 actually, so that doesn't make any sense. It'll be all gone then," said Dawn Williams of Scranton.
"It's pretty average, but I think in February, it can either get a bit warmer or colder based on my years of living here," said Hahn.
If you're dreaming of warmer weather, spring is only 60 days away.
