MOOSIC, Pa. — If you thought five hours of "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer" was a lot, how about nearly 12 hours of hobbits, wizards, orcs, and elves? Saturday at Cinemark, moviegoers got to their seats early to binge all three extended editions of "The Lord of the Rings."
It's in honor of the franchise's 20th anniversary.
"I've watched them religiously. I've never seen them in theaters, though. So this is a pretty big deal. I've done it at home, doing it in a theater is going to be a little different. But I can do it. No sleeping, no nothing," said Aaron Jewell of Lake Winola.
"That was when we first got married. It was about the time The Fellowship came out. So for us, it's a little nostalgic," said Steven and Marty Offutt of Wilkes-Barre.
There will be an additional showing of the movie marathon on Sunday starting at 10 a.m. in Moosic.
