DALTON, Pa. — Indraloka is an animal sanctuary in the Dalton area that helps rescued farm animals. More than 200 animals call this place home. This Saturday, Indraloka will hold its biggest fundraiser of the year...Thanksliving.
"Kick off the season of gratitude with some music and some laughter and some turkeys," Indra Lahiri said.
But the turkeys won't be on the menu, they'll be the guests of honor! Thanksliving is meant to celebrate life. The rescue brings together humans and animals for a feast.
"We actually lay a table with a tablecloth and china and everything and we make a feast for them and we humans have an opportunity to feed the birds. The turkeys invite their other bird friends," Lahiri said.
After that the humans eat a catered plant-based meal. There will be live music, raffles and an auction. All proceeds go to Indraloka's operating costs, such as utility bills.
"It's going to help us with the added straw that we need for the animals' beds, the blankets, coats and jackets that they need. The heaters that keep their water from freezing. And also for the human spaces. We have lots and lots of humans who depend on these animals," Lahiri said.
Thanksliving is Saturday from 11-4 at Indraloka. Tickets are $89.99 and are selling fast; for more information on tickets, click here.
