Sweeping and shoveling in Lackawanna County

Parts of Lackawanna County didn't see much more snow than a dusting, but others had enough to shovel.

LACKAWANNA COUNTY, Pa. — Robert Seaforth spent the morning shoveling out his driveway near Moscow to get his car cleared before he headed to work. Seaforth said it was a struggle to clean up.

"I thought it was going to be maybe a little bit lighter. I didn't think it was going to be so heavy."

Next door, Nick Lowry was doing the same, clearing his sidewalks. Lowry says he expected some snow but didn't anticipate this much when he looked out the window.

"Normally, I take the minivan, and I bring it into the driveway. I left it out here, and it was just covered. so, I was like, 'Oh, my goodness, this is a lot.'"

While Lowry shoveled away, his three children had some time to play in the snow.

Seaforth said he was trying to make moving the heavy, wet snow fun for the kids.

"If I had a snowblower, I'd probably make it a lot bigger for her. I got rid of the snowblower, and plus, with it being so heavy and wet, it would probably clog up."

Several inches of snow fell in this part of Lackawanna County, just a few miles away from areas that only saw a dusting.

Seaforth says any amount of snow is fair game this time of year in northeastern Pennsylvania.

"I've seen the snow all the way into March. So, who knows? You just have to watch the weather."

The consensus on this snowfall is that Punxsutawney Phil got it wrong this time.
